To protect the doors in your workplace from damage, you may want to invest in push plates. They aren’t used strictly for aesthetic purposes. While push plates can certainly add a touch of style to doors, they can protect doors from damage in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overview of Push Plates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Push plates are flat pieces of material — typically a metal or alloy — that you can push to open the doors on which they are installed. They are designed specifically for use on doors that require or support pushing to open. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can install them on both sides of swinging doors for instance. Alternatively, you can install them on the push side of a one-directional door. One-directional doors can feature a pull handle on one side and a push plate on the opposite side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Push Plates Protect Doors From Damage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a push plate, neither you nor anyone else in your workplace will have to directly touch the door to open it. You’ll still need to push the door to open it. Rather than touching the door itself, though, you can touch the push plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pushing a door over and over dozens of times each day can lead to wear and tear. The door may initially develop superficial blemishes. And if you continue to open it by directly touching and pushing the door, these blemishes could turn into damage. Push plates protect doors from damage such as this by offering a stable, solid surface to touch. You can open doors by pushing these plates rather than the doors themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to Consider When Choosing Push Plates <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While all push plates are durable, you can find them in different materials. Copper is a common material in which push plates are made. Copper is strong, long-lasting and stylish. It’s also easy to maintain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should consider the installation requirements when choosing push plates. All push plates are installed using threaded fasteners. You can drive the threaded fasteners through a push plate and into the door behind it. With that said, some push plates require more threaded fasteners than others. A push plate with four threaded holes will require four threaded fasteners, whereas a push plate with six threaded holes will require six threaded fasteners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
