Some of them are long, whereas others are short. Regardless of length, all spring plungers feature a spring-loaded ball or nose. The spring is enclosed within the plunger’s body. It will apply constant pressure to a ball or nose at the end of the plunger. Short-spring plungers, however, feature a shorter design than most other types of spring plungers.

What Are Short-Spring Plungers?

Short-spring plungers are characterized by a short design. They have a shorter body, spring and stroke than other types of spring plungers.

The stroke is the maximum distance a compression spring can compress while still exerting a force. Short-spring plungers have a shorter stroke than their long counterparts.

Components of Short-Spring Plungers

Short-spring plungers consists of several components, including the body, spring and tip. The body is the cylindrical housing. It’s typically made of a durable material, such as stainless steel or brass, and features external threading. External threading allows short-spring plungers to easily connect to threaded holes.

The spring is the mechanical component that allows short-spring plungers to apply a force. Most short-spring plungers have a compression spring within the body. Compression springs, of course, become shorter when exposed to a load. As they become shorter, compression springs will exert an equal force.

The plunger tip consist of a ball or nose at the tip of a short-spring plunger. It will touch the object with which the plunger is used. Short-spring plungers are used in positioning and locking applications. The tip is designed to press against other parts to position or lock them in place.

When pressure is applied to the tip, the spring compresses. The short-spring plunger will then contract. When pressure is removed, the spring will return to its original position and the tip will push back out.

Advantages of Short-Spring Plungers

With their short design, short-spring plungers are ideal for tight spaces. They take up less space than traditional-length spring plungers.

Short-spring plungers are available in different configurations. You can find them in different materials, sizes and specifications.

Another advantage of short-spring plungers is durability. They are designed to last a long time. Even when used repeatedly over a prolonged period, the spring will continue to exert a force while providing a reliable positioning and locking mechanism.

In Conclusion

Short-spring plungers are small spring-loaded devices. They are used in many different industries for positioning and locking parts. With their compact design, short-spring plungers are ideal for tight spaces.

Spring plungers are available in different lengths.
