Consisting of a circular, wheel-shaped design, they support left and right movements. Turning a handwheel to the right, for instance, may open a valve, whereas the same handwheel to the left may close the valve. While there are many different styles of handwheels, monospoke has become a popular choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Are Monospoke Handwheels?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monospoke handwheels are characterized by a single-spoke design. A spoke, of course, is a rod-like extension that protrudes out of an object. On handwheels, they are typically perpendicular, offering an ergonomic gripping surface. Rather than grabbing the rim of the handwheel, you can grab the spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Common Features of Monospoke Handwheels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defining feature of all monospoke handwheels is a single-spoke design. Some handwheels feature more spokes than others. There are spoke-less handwheels, single-spoke handwheels, and there are handwheels with two or more spokes. The term &#8220;mono&#8221; is often used as a prefix for &#8220;single.&#8221; Monospoke handwheels feature a single-spoke design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also find monospoke handwheels with a cutout near the center. As shown in the image above, the cutout is typically U- or crescent-shaped. It&#8217;s designed to prevent hand slippage while allowing for access to the axial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another common feature of monospoke handwheels is a fold-away design. The spoke isn&#8217;t fixed upright. Rather, it&#8217;s connected via a hinge, allowing you to fold it down when you aren&#8217;t using it. This foldaway spoke design helps to minimize the risk of snagging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Choose a Monospoke Handwheel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The single-spoke design of monospoke handwheels offers several benefits, one of which is a more open wheel face. Each spoke takes up space on the front of the wheel. Handwheels with two or more spokes often have limited space, which makes them more difficult to install and maintain than their monospoke counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monospoke handwheels are easy to turn. They allow for maximum torque thanks to their mostly open front. You can grab the single spoke and turn it using your body as leverage. Since there are no other spokes, you&#8217;ll have plenty of space to position your hand and body for leverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monospoke handwheels offer a combination of simplicity, comfort and durability. Their single-spoke design allows for an open wheel face. Many monospoke handwheels also feature a fold-away spoke to reduce the risk of snagging.
