Mate Rivets: Simplifying Assembly with Interlocking Fasteners
Mate Rivets are a 2 piece fastener. Access to both sides of the work is required, however it does not require close tolerance holes. The Tubular Component is inserted from one side and the Rivet is inserted from the other. When set, the Rivet expands inside the Tubular Component and clamps tightly and securely without crushing the parent material. This fastener has a very wide grip range and can be used in applications up to 3-7/8″ thick.
Advantages of Mate Rivets
- Easy Assembly: Install with a standard Blind Rivet tool which minimizes the need for specialized tools.
- Permanant: Designed to be permanent and not easily removed which makes them ideal for security applications.
- Vibration Resistance: Once engaged, the interlocking design provides a secure fit that resists loosening under vibration.
- Wide Range of Applications: Suitable for use in automotive, furniture, and consumer goods where ease of assembly and a long faste3ner is required.
Installation Process
Installing mate rivets is straightforward and requires no special tools:
- Align the Components: Position the materials to be joined, ensuring proper alignment of the holes.
- Insert the Male Component: Place the male part of the rivet through the hole from one side.
- Engage the Female Component: Align and press the female part onto the male part and set using a standard blind rivet setting tool.
Conclusion
Mate rivets offer an efficient solution for assembling components quickly and securely. Their wide range of sizes and extra long lengths makes them a versatile choice for many industries. Whether in manufacturing, maintenance, or consumer products, mate rivets provide a reliable fastening option that simplifies the assembly process.
