Nomination
“To start with a little background information about Earl here at Lyn-Tron/OneMonroe. Earl applied to work at Lyntron more than once and was just nudged out by another candidates. However, instead of giving up he would go get more job experience and computer knowledge and then when there was another opening, he would apply again. That continuous determination was what finally nudged him over the other candidates. He brings that determination to his current position and much more. He is always learning something and then shares his knowledge with his coworkers.
“One of the biggest challenges was when the Spokane branch updated to a new ERP system. This caused anxiety with many of the employees. However, Earl learned the system and had the patience to teach it to his fellow customer service representatives. Earl not only helped his department through the transition to the new ERP system. He was able and willing to help work with other departments along the way. Still to this day he gets asked many times a day if he can help someone navigate plex. The more we learn about plex the more questions he gets asked. He answers what he knows and what he doesn’t know he researches to find the answer. Always looking to expand his knowledge and share it with others.
“The job he originally was higher to do has evolved and he has met the challenge and evolved with it. He is not only a customer service representative. He has also taken on the role of computer interpreter. Many of our customers are designing their own portal or using an outside service that requires someone to learn that computer program. Earl has stepped up to learn the portals and then teach them to everyone else in the department.
“Earl is also willing to help any department that he can. With the new ERP system in place, all the inventory had to be moved and counted. With that being said Earl volunteered to spend many weekends in the shipping department helping to get the inventory back in the system. From time to time, he also works with the 2nd op department if he has a free minute. In the 2nd op department, he does whatever is needed, from bagging parts – deburring nylon even re-chasing a threaded part.
“Earl is someone you can count on to help you whenever needed and does so with a positive personality. He continues to learn whatever has been thrown at him and research ways to do things more efficiently. He has a very upbeat personality and gets along with his fellow employees. It’s been over seven years now and we are thankful that Earl didn’t give up. He still shows up every day with that same determination to get things done. “

Employee name: Earl Baldwin
Job Title:Sales Account Executive
Where did you grow up? A little town called Airway Heights, WA.
How long have you worked for Monroe? I have been working with Monroe for the past 7 going on 8 years.
What do you like about working for Monroe? I enjoy the camaraderie. We are all a family at this facility and I am sure it’s the same at all locations. I have worked for a few places over the years and this is the first I have felt like family and not just another cog in the machine.
What is one thing you love about your job? I enjoy that everyday is a new challenge. Something new to try and figure out to best help your customer. Or perhaps something new to learn to help your fellow colleagues. Sean Connery once said “There’s always a new challenge to keep you motivated” and he was right.
If you could add one thing to your office, what would it be? Oh that one is easy. A giant gaming table for after hours. Bring other members into a fun DND game in the evenings or perhaps some throw down with some table top games instead.
Before Monroe, what was the most unusual or interesting job you have ever had? Before Monroe, the most unusual job I had was working as an Asset Protection member for Walmart. You never knew what kind of sticky situation you were getting yourself into when addressing a possible theft.
Three words to best describe you. Nerdy, driven, and curious.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tacos! Who doesn’t like tacos?
If you were an animal, what would you be? Definitely a squirrel
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it? I can be sneaky. For a person of my stature, I can easily sneak around when I want to.
What is one song you have completely memorized? Lord Huron – Meet me in the Woods
What is one totally irrational fear that you have? Mirrors. Do I have to say anything more than Bloody Mary?
Any favorite line from a movie? I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters. For those ten seconds or less, I’m free” – Dom
Best vacation you have been on? That’s hard. As a kid, I would say Oregon with my folks. As an adult, Sequim with my folks as well. Anything that involves my family and something outdoors related.
Least favorite food? V8 juice-based stew.
Do you have a motto or personal mantra? I don’t know if it’s really a motto, but three-fold. Everything you do to others or put into the world that is negative will likely reflect back unto you even worse. So do all you can to make the world a better place instead of promoting negaticity.
What are your three most overused words/phrases? Bro, Nah fam, and awesome.
What is an ability you wish you had? The ability to instantly learn new skills. You know, like the Matrix.
What is one thing on your bucket list To visit Ireland.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I am usually throwing a ball for my pup all while gaming, watching car videos, learning a computer skill, or out fishing/hiking.
What is your favorite sport or sports team? Hmm. I am not so much into your traditional sports. However, recently E-Sports have been considered a sport. So I would say COD pro games. Go Optic! If you’re talking traditional sports. I do like Hockey and some Football. Football – Ravens becasue Poe and Hockey is always going to be Krackens!
Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster? I would have to say a tiny Elephant. Small, but very smart.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet? Paul Walker. Hands down the one who got me into JDM.
