Caster Type
You should consider the caster type when choosing a platform truck. Casters are wheels in a mountable frame. Most platform trucks have four casters, which allow you to roll them. But the specific type of casters found on platform trucks may vary.
Some platform trucks have polyolefin casters, whereas others have mold-on rubber casters. The size of the casters may also vary, with some platform trucks having 6-inch casters and others having 8-inch casters.
Load Capacity
Perhaps the most important thing to consider when choosing a platform truck is the load capacity. Regardless of what type of objects or materials you intend to transport with it, you’ll need to choose a platform truck that can handle the load.
Most platform trucks have a high load capacity. After all, they are designed for moving heavy objects and materials. Common load capacities include 1,600 to 2,000 pounds per caster.
Length

Long platform trucks, of course, can accommodate larger objects and materials than short platform trucks. The downside is that they take up more space. Handle Design
Finally, you should consider the handle design when choosing a platform truck. It may seem like a small and insignificant component, but the handle plays a major role in the performance of a platform truck. A well-designed ergonomic handle will make the platform truck easier to use.
Most platform trucks feature a U-shaped bar handle. It extends from the base and rises a few feet before looping back down. Some platform trucks, though, feature dual handles, folding handles or other types of handles.
